Although our iPhone 15 Pro Max review didn’t uncover any screen-related concerns, a notable number of users of this premium iPhone 15 variant have reported encountering screen burn-in issues. These issues are set to be addressed by the upcoming iOS 17.1 update.
According to observations made by MacRumors and other sources, the forthcoming software update includes a solution for problems that may lead to display image persistence or screen burn-in. While it’s not yet accessible to all users, it has already been rolled out to beta testers and developers.
Screen burn-in, also known as image persistence, is when faint remnants of previous content persist on a display. This issue has long plagued OLED panels and has historically affected display TVs, where constant display of channel logos would result in the ‘burning’ of these logos onto the screen.
